The Basketball Institutes Philosophy:
Basketball is a game of mental and physical skill that is developed over
a period of time through repetition and hard work. At the basketball
Institute it is our goal to teach players how to prepare for life thru
the development of their basketball skills. We’ve found that the
discipline they learn from the combination of fun and hard work has
been very successful over the years. The balance of family, school,
athletics, rest and nutrition is critical in the development of successful
student athletes. Only 2% of high school players go on to play college
basketball. It is critical that we teach our youth the importance of both
the basketball skills as well as the life skills that they will need to
succeed both during and after high school basketball. Those 2% that
do go on to play in college will also need these skills to succeed
both educationally and athletically at the higher level. Clinics are
designed to help all players improve their individual skills. We
hope that each player will return to their respective teams with
improved skills, knowledge and a zest for a better understanding of
how they can contribute to their respective team. It is then the job of
parents, players and school/club coaches to help the players integrate
these improved individual skills into the dynamic of their team and
optimize the benefit of those improvements. As the athlete matures
they will have developed a set of good habits and life skills that will
be invaluable to them in all future endeavors.
